Tommy Robinson humiliated in London

His dwindling numbers were met with a big counter demonstration

London sent Tommy Robinson a clear message: our streets do not belong to racists, fascists and Islamophobes.

Hundreds of thousands of people joined the demonstration against them, bringing together anti-racists, Palestine activists, trade unionists, and communities from across Britain.

Robinson wanted to turn reform’s electoral gains into a show of strength on the streets. He hoped to use Saturday’s mobilisation to spread hatred against Muslims, migrants, refugees, Palestine supporters and the left.

But we showed that there is a united and determined movement ready to oppose the far right wherever they try to organise.

Robinson’s movement is a threat not only to migrants and Muslims, but also to the Palestine solidarity movement. He has repeatedly tried to present anti-racists, Palestine supporters and Muslims as part of the same supposed enemy within.

The Palestine movement has brought hundreds of thousands onto the streets against war, occupation and genocide. Robinson and the far right wanted to break that confidence. They failed.

Anti-racists and Palestine campaigners stood together because the same forces attacking migrants, refugees and Muslims are also trying to attack the right to protest.

The far right are trying to grow in confidenceat the ballot box and on the streets. They want to exploit anger over poverty, cuts, low pay, housing and collapsing services, and redirect it against refugees, migrants and Muslims.

Racism solves nothing

But racism solves nothing. It only divides working-class communities the crisis off the hook.

Robinson’s mobilisation was marked by racist and Islamophobic cha date anti-racists and Palestine supporters, the far right failed to silence opposition.

Our movement stands for solidarity, unity and resistance to every atte today showed why mass counter-mobilisation matters.

Every time the far right tries to march, they must be met by a bigger, broader and more unified movement against them.

Stand Up to Racism will continue to build opposition to reform, tomm right in elections, workplaces, colleges, communities and on the streets.

We will also stand with all those defending the right to protest, opposing ing justice for Palestine.

The far right are not unstoppable. When we organise, we can push them back.
