Our goals
We want a future free from racism, Islamophobia, antisemitism and all forms of oppression. The far right wants the opposite. They live off scapegoating, spewing racism and hate, thriving on turning people against each other. We want to stop them in their tracks. To do this, we need an organisation that confronts the far right whereever they show, that takes initiatives to strengthen anti-racism in Britain.
That’s what Stand Up to Racism is about. We bring people together to oppose the far right’s politics of division. We organise unity demonstrations, campaign against Reform UK in elections and build counter-protests against fascist groups. The majority of people in Britain oppose racism and fascism – our goal is to mobilise them.
Our Story
Formed in 2015, we were born out of the increasing threat of the far right, Islamophobia and antisemitism. Since then, again and again Stand Up To Racism has united people against the rising tide of racism and fascism. Over the years, we have brought together hundreds of thousands of people – from yearly marches marking UN Antiracism Day to local campaigns defending the rights of refugees.
Today, Stand Up To Racism is powered by ordinary people who take to the streets, who organise in their workplaces and communities. Through this collective action, we can defeat the far right.
About Stand Up to Racism
Join us to take on the fight against the far right
Who we are
Stand Up to Racism is a broad-based anti-racist organisation that brings together trade unions, community organisations, students, campaigners, faith groups, cultural figures and anti-racist activists.
Our aim is to oppose racism, fascism and the politics of division. We do this by building mass anti-racist and anti-fascist action that unites those who want to oppose the far right’s hate.
What we're fighting for
We are fighting to build a movement against racism, fascism, Islamophobia, and antisemitism.
We want a movement that rejects any scapegoating of refugees, Muslims, Black communities and other oppressed groups. For too long, politicians, the media and the far right have looked to divide ordinary people by blaming these groups for problems instead caused by inequality, austerity and the failures of government.
What we do
We campaign nationally and locally by organising demonstrations, rallies, public meetings, workplace and community events, gigs, conferences, school and college activity and solidarity actions with refugees and migrants.
We believe that unity, solidarity and collective action are the strongest weapons in our arsenal. Our work shows that racists and fascists can be challenged and defeated when we stand together.
How we organise
We are an activist-led organisation. We are coordinated through elected officers and an executive committee, who help organise our national campaigns, events and mobilisations.
Our work is rooted in our local groups that bring together a wide array of people and organisations. It is the activity of these groups that provides the foundation of our campaigns.
We are supported by affiliated trade unions and organisations, whose backing helps strengthen the anti-racist movement in workplaces, communities and campaigns across Britain.
