Image: campaigning against Reform UK in the Gorton and Denton byelection
We are just 8 weeks away from the mass demonstration called by the Together Alliance on Saturday 28 March – a day that will also see millions protest in the US on the “no Kings” .
In the build up events are being held in many areas to help create momentum with unity demos being held in North London (7 February), Bristol (14 February) and the Midlands (Birmingham 8 March), alongside the days of action that Together have initiated on 5 & 14 February and 5 & 14 March.
While anti-racists are already out campaigning against Reform UK in the Gorton by-election (see report below) far right protests are still being held across Britain.
At the weekend fascist Tommy Robinson went to Braintree to help stir up hatred against asylum seekers in the Weathersfield camp, another anti-refugee protest took place in Crowborough, while UKIP tried to march (on the pavement) down Oxford Street in Central London – booted out of their planned assembly point in Tower Hamlets through the threat of community mobilisation.
The 100,000 people on the pro-Palestine protest in Central London were not exactly troubled by Nazi Nick Tenconi’s mobilisation.
Well done to all those who were out opposing the far right on the streets and in Gorton this weekend!
Crowborough

Very important meeting hosted by SUTR in Crowborough this week. This comes after big far right demos and in an area where we don’t have much at all. All credit to the activists who have been part of this.
Fantastic & powerful Holocaust Memorial Day event in Crowborough with over 100 people. It follows on from 60 people attending a refugee solidarity organising meeting last night.
Today the local crime panel voted no confidence in Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne over her attendance at a far right led protest march against the Crowborough camp. It just shows that even in the most difficult circumstances antiracists can organise.
Sussex Women Against the Far Right organised a great (first) protest outside the crime panel meeting in Lewes as people went inc Katy Bourne, the Police Crime Commissioner went in. Bourne has since been censured by the local police panel, Members voted 10-4 in favour of a motion declaring they had “lost confidence in the commissioner and in the commissioner’s conduct”.
Press release 31st January 2026. This press release is signed on behalf of all Sussex Stand up to Racism branches and Lewes District Anti Racism Alliance.
Sussex Police and Crime Panel Issues Formal Censure of Katy Bourne Following Vote of No Confidence
LEWES, UK — The Sussex Police and Crime Panel yesterday formally censured Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Katy Bourne, citing a significant loss of confidence in her conduct and impartiality. The motion follows a period of intense public scrutiny regarding Bourne’s alignment with controversial protest groups and public statements targeting asylum seekers.
The motion, brought forward by Councillor Paul Keene (Green Party, Lewes Priory Ward) states that Bourne’s recent actions—including participation in a protest march in Crowborough, social media activity, and public calls for asylum seekers to be electronically tagged—have “brought the Office of Commissioner and Policing into disrepute.” Critics highlighted comments made by the PCC on Radio Sussex on December 30, 2025, as a turning point that necessitated formal intervention.
Councillor Paul Keene, reflecting on the vote, stated: “The Panel has demonstrated that public figures remain accountable to their constituents. Sussex does not want to see actions that marginalise, attack, or persecute vulnerable populations. Today is a vital example of how a democratic society stands up for those who cannot stand up for themselves.”
The censure highlights a failure by Bourne to distinguish between her political campaign for Mayor of Sussex and her professional duty as PCC. Bourne has not consistently clarified on her social media posts that she was speaking as Mayoral Candidate rather than in her role as PCC. She has openly taken sides in a divisive situation in Crowborough, in which the police’s role should be calming rather than exacerbating the situation.
Bourne has also spread misinformation about migrants. Groups such as “Crowborough Shield” may operate under misconceptions regarding the legal status of refugees, the Panel argued that a senior official in Mrs. Bourne’s position cannot claim the same ignorance. Individuals currently housed in local facilities have already navigated a rigorous sequence of processing centres and ring-fenced accommodation. Legally, these individuals hold open asylum applications; by international law, seeking refuge via boat when no other safe, legal routes are available is a protected right.
Community groups present outside and at the hearing including Sussex Women Against the Far Right, Stand Up to Racism Crowborough, Stand Up to Racism Newhaven, Stand up to Racism Lewes. These groups have gone a step further than the censure, calling for Bourne’s immediate resignation. They argue that her alignment with rhetoric targeting vulnerable groups is fundamentally incompatible with the integrity and impartiality required to oversee the Sussex Police force.
Sussex Women Against the Far Right submitted a complaint to this effect through the Sussex Police and Crime Panel official complaints process on Wednesday 28th January. They also, on the afternoon of Thursday 29th January, launched a petition calling for the PCC’s resignation which has been signed by over 1000 people in less than 48 hours
Holocaust Memorial Day – watch the online remembrance event
An online remembrance event hosted by Stand Up to Racism Wednesday 28 January 6pm Speakers include: Rabbi Herschel Gluck David Rosenberg, Jewish Socialist Group Daniela Abraham, Sinti-Roma Holocaust Memorial Trust Weyman Bennett & Sabby Dhalu, Stand Up to Racism We are now over 80 years on from the horrors of the Second World War.
Yet the Holocaust, where 6 million Jewish people and millions from Poland, Russia, gypsy-Roma and trade unionists and socialists died at the hands of the Nazis, is more relevant than ever. In a world where the far right is growing more powerful every day and where racism, antisemitism and Islamophobia are on the rise we have to make sure that the term ‘Never Again’ is a reality.
Join us to remember the millions who lost their lives and to discuss how we can stop the possibility of a repetition of those horrors. ‘Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it’
Scotland
Perth
Pathetic, demoralised, rabble in Perth today outnumbered 4-1 by vibrant counter. Today in Perth we outnumbered them 150 to 40. They had face masks depicting a prominent antifascist campaigner in an attempt to mock. We thought they looked great!
Glasgow
Thank you to the 200 people who joined Stand Up to Racism Glasgow tonight in solidarity with Minneapolis and to say fck ICE!
Thank you to all the speakers from SUTR, Your Party, the Greens, Unison, PCS, stop the war, Women Against the Far Right, Refugees for Justice, Afghan Human Rights Foundation and many more
Special shout out to Maryhill Against Racism and Falkirk for All for providing us with solidarity and to Falkirk for All for providing a PA system for us to use.
All talked about the need for anti-racists to get organised in Scotland, say loudly and clearly that refugees and migrants are welcome here and no to racist Reform UK!
North of England
Manchester

Over 70 anti racists attended the Launch of our STOP Reform Campaign today in Levenshulme, within the Gorton and Denton constituency.
Speaking at the event, we had Green Party candidate Hannah Spencer, local Labour councillor Zahid Hussain, and Tony Wilson, Branch Secretary of Greater Manchester Transport Unison.
After the speeches everyone went into the local streets to leaflet with our STOP Reform election leaflet and leaflets for the Together Alliance national demonstration against the Far Right on the 28th March.
Over the next four weeks, we intend to leaflet every house in the constituency with our message of unity not division, love not hate.
Please see our timetable and join us to ensure that we send racist Mathew Goodwin, Reform candidate packing, out of our city!
Merseyside

In Liverpool on Monday 26th January Women Against The Far Right and Merseyside Stand Up To Racism protested against racist ICE in the US.
At short notice, an emergency protest was called in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis and in opposition to ICE violence, including the brutal murders of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti and the abductions and deportations of migrants and people of colour. About 85 anti-racists gathered. We drew clear connections between Trump’s racism and the rise of the far-right, including Reform UK in Britain. We also opposed concessions to racism by the UK government and repressive state policies towards refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.
We stand for human solidarity, rights and dignity everywhere, demonstrating that injustice to people across the Atlantic is an injury to us all and that we must build for the Together Alliance on 28 March to show that we are the majority against the far-right and we can and must defeat them.
Salford

Thank you to all those who attended the Salford unity event today, with over 60 people in attendance, to promote the Together Alliance unity mobilisation for 28th March. The event began with a fantastic performance from the Salford refugee forum choir.
We then heard from our local MP Rebecca Long – Bailey and Salford Mayor, Paul Dennett about why we should come together to support The Together Aliiance against the far right.Local trade unionists, community campaigns, faith groups and migrant workers spoke about the importance of challenging division with love and hope.
This is Salford’s Centenary year and we will celebrate the contribution of migrants to the vibrant regeneration of our city. Everyone pledged for the launch event, to be the start of creating an even stronger anti-racist culture across our city.
We agreed to work for the maximum attendance on the 28th March and locally to mobilise for the TUC May Day rally, whichwill celebrate the contribution of migrants.
Nottingham

Nottm SUTR collection outside Masjid Al-Khazra mosque in Basford Nottingham to fund Together Alliance transport on 28th March. Fantastic response ( many had been on their regular Palestinian coaches to London). So friendly. 2 rounds of coffees and teas and also ‘wraps’ £733.38 collected – £326 on SUTR Sumup machine ( inc one £50 donation). £375 in notes and £32.38 in change. 300+ worshippers ( we ran out of our 320 flyers). So good in depth conversations. Looks like we could put on a coach from the mosque.
We want to do mosque leaflet and collections at other Mosques at Friday prayers for next few weeks.
London
In what is the strangest fascist demo I have witnessed the UKIP usual suspects and a few hangers on totalling about 100 took a walk along the pavements of Oxford St. They chanted “Christ Is King” to bemused shoppers and tourists.
Waving a thurible of incense they stopped every few hundred yards to “pray”.
Disgracefully the police let them approach Trafalgar Sq as the huge Palestine march was ending.
Haringey

Image: 500 leaflets given out in Crouch End by HWS NEU members, joined by Efe, Haringey NEU branch sec
In the build up to the 7th February North London Unity march Haringey activists have been stepping up the action. A SUTR representative was invited to speak at the general meeting of Haringey National Eduction Union and was warmly received with the meeting committed to supporting the march. The union branch has already made a donation to help fund the march and will be providing a speaker on the day.
Wood Green stall on Sunday saw eight activists distribute hundreds of flyers. Tottenham Hale and Seven Sisters hand Turnpike Lane have all been leafleted and will be leafleted again this week, plus Wood green. On the day of action to build for 28 March as well as the 7th, there will be a massd leafleting at Finsbury Park station.
Flyers were also distributed to the Sorting office workers and council and hospital workers are being leafleted this Tuesday
500 leaflets given out by NEU members in Crouch End on Saturday. Bruce Grove Islamic centre leafleted. Spanish leaflet were also distributed at the Latin market in Seven Sisters. Turkish and Kurdish groups are distributing 2,000 flyers and 200 posters that have all been translated into Turkish, as well as English-language versions.
Postering teams are keeping up the pace across Haringey, in addition to Enfield, Islington and Camden.
Camden

Image: Camden United Against Racism activists out leafleting for the North London Unity march
Leafleted School of Oriental and African Studies, Somers Town mosque in addition to other activities.
Enfield

Enfield SUTR had an excellent leafletting session at Palmers Green mosque – five activists handed out about 500 leaflets. Positive reception all round. Posters put around Palmers Green overground station and visited the very friendly union rep at Palmers Green bus garage who took leaflets to hand out. Enfield bus garage was also visited.

Islington
Activists were leafleting at The Rocket at London Met Uni, Finsbury Park mosque, Highbury and Islington tube and joined other groups to leaflet the national Palestine demo.
Activities this week include leafleting Camden School for Girls, as well as Archway and Old Street tube stations. There will also be leafleting at City University and banner making being organised for the student bloc.
Activists report a growing buzz and enthusiasm in support of the unity march.

Image: Plenty of posters up around Finsbury Park!
Tower Hamlets
After UKIP was banned from entering Tower Hamlets by the Metropolitan Police for their planned Walk with Jesus, we agreed we should still go ahead with our counter-protest: to stand up to any far right protesters who came to the borough and also to celebrate our anti-racist unity.
We had about 200 anti-racists. Trade unions represented included (with banners) NEU Tower Hamlets and the City, Tower Hamlets Unison, UNITE the union, Homerton Hospital health workers with their Homerton Against the Far Right banner, and Tower Hamlets Trades Council.
Other groups represented and with banners included Tower Hamlets Your Party, Christians Against the Far Right, The Queer bloc, the national SUTR banner alongside the Tower Hamlets and also Newham SUTR branches. We were also pleased to be joined by Apsana Begum, MP for Poplar and Limehouse.
Hillingdon

Community action in Hillingdon saw anti-racism activists clear entire streets of flags in hotspots including West Drayton ahead of a planned far right march this weekend. Several sack loads were removed with a clever one pull gadget.
The good people of Hillingdon (the silent majority) have had enough of the flag being used to intimidate and divide our community.
Braintree
Tommy Robinson’s presence guaranteed a good 300 turnout on this anti asylum march. It was a small turnout by Robinsons standards but big for a local protest. The event itself was underwhelming with a very short march to the Market Square where various locals spoke. Robinson only managed five minutes himself mostly going on about “independent media” but also stressed the importance of local protests. We have to ask is this a new strategy from Robinson? It is hard to see how he can monetise it unlike the large marches in London.
Wales
Swansea

Vigil for Minneapolis in Swansea 27th Jan, 25 people gathered despite the weather and only 24 hours notice
Wrexham

Today the community came together to say no to hate, division and the far right. Despite being well funded by external influences, and bussing agitators in from across the border and South Wales, the fascists couldn’t even muster 100 people
Previously they claimed to be a community protest of local people, and yet the likes of Voice of wales (right wing youtuber from south wales) and Patriotic Alternative (British Far Right, Neo-Nazi white nationalist hate group) could only spread their far right nazi bile to a rag-tag bunch of damp racists.
We proudly sung our national anthem and Yma o Hyd because Cymru is a nation for everyone. We proved today that Wrexham is Anti-Fascist
¡No Pasaran!
South England
Bristol

Image: Leafletting for Bristol Unity march outside Bristol City women’s match
Bristol Together, United against Racism: Celebration, Unity March and Rally is taking place on Saturday February 14th at 12 noon on College Green.
Speakers include Ines Lage, South West Regional Secretary of TUC, Carla Denyer MP and Fran Heathcote, National Secretary of PCS, as well as local Trade Unionists, refugee charities, anti-war campaigners and faith leaders.
Bristol is a City of Sanctuary and we reject the division caused by parties that are funded by billionaires and call for mass deportations, and others who want to blame all our problems on immigration and don’t represent our City.
Join us to reject the politics of hate on Valentine’s Day!
Overview from Monitoring Group
We start again this week with the splits and divisions in the far right. The feud between Ryan Bridge of Raise The Colours and Danny Tommo “best mate” of Tommy Robison continue with the spreading of supposed voicemails from Danny Tommo (they may be fake) portraying him as unhinged. The French governments has meanwhile expanded its ban on British far right agitators entering the costal regions. Tommo is also in trouble with a certain Reece Grant one of the goons he tricked into doing to France as part of his farcical “Operation Overlord”. Grant was arrested by the French police but Tommo didn’t bother to do anything about it until Searchlight broke the news.
Holly West of Braintree anti asylum group was arrested last week for racially abusing a transport worker. She is to report to the police on Monday 2 February and has been told to prepare to be potentially held in custody.
The feud between her and Michelle Lee of the Braintree “official” group also continues with Holly claiming to have been spat at and abused at the school gates by Michelle and others. The “official” group has received the blessing of Tommy Robinson.
West and her team cancelled her planned Braintree protest and protests in Chelmsford and Wetherfield saying that they were protecting the safety of their followers. They have also drawn back from having protests at the camp, instead concentrating in the town.
The splits and fall outs have generated a lot of comment on social media with the effect of showing a certain level of demoralisation amounts commentators.
Robinson was in the UK this week, perhaps escaping the bad weather in the south of Europe. He appeared outside the trial of the murderer of Rhiannon Whyte trying to stir up trouble and at the Braintree protest organised by Michelle Lee. The protest was large for Braintree but trivial by Robinsons standards. One has to ask why he appeared there. In his short speech he stressed the importance of local protests. Are the Robinson crew thinking that the military camp protests are worth trying to build?
In a side story notorious “Auditor” AY Audits aka Tony Barnes who was recently demonetised from Youtube was arrested in Braintree whilst cos playing as protection for Tommy Robinson. The police said they were charging him with aggravated assault.
The other camp at Crowborough saw a large demonstration last week but this Saturday was about a quarter of that, back to the attendance that they had previously.
Anti-racists in Crowborogh have began the process of building the confidence of local people to say no to hate and division as we report above.
Saturday saw the derisory UKIP “prayer walk” with around a hundred participants most known faces. Chanting Christ is King and stopping to “pray” every few hundred yards, the event held on the pavement was largely ignored by Oxford Street shoppers. One has to wonder at what Tenconis’s strategy with the Christian Nationalist turn is, other than obtaining cash from the US evangelicals.
Other reports from around the country confirm the at present dwindling numbers that are attending the far right protests that are held weekly. Perth as reported above indicates this.
SUTR groups round the country continue to build both the forthcoming Unity protests in the local areas and the national Together protest on the 28march. First up is the North London Unity demo on Saturday 7th February. Trade union backing for the 28th continues to come in as branches and regions meet.
Whilst they are struggling on the ground we know that most of the far right will be rallying around Reform in the Gorton and Denton by-Election with mainstream media coverage of far right talking points. Whilst there is some dissent, with Advance UK also standing, nevertheless it is a powerful moment for them. So again this week no room for complacency.
