While we all looked in horror at the murder of Alex Pretti just a week after the murder of Renee Good at the hands of Trump’s ICE agents in Minneapolis, and remember the 32 brown and black people who died in ICE custody last year, the far right in Britain continues its attempts to build.
In Crowborough, legitimised by Starmer and mainstream politicians, around a thousand marched against asylum seekers with speakers from the fascist Advance UK, Raise the Colours & activists connected to the fascist Homeland Party playing leading roles on the day (more below).
But there is growing resistance. In Minneapolis we saw mass protests, walkouts and strikes last Friday, while in Britain many local far right protests were outnumbered and the Together Alliance against the far right demo on Saturday 28 March is set to be huge.
Solidarity efforts to support refugees were also ongoing, with a successful event in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, organised by Herts Welcomes Refugees and Cheshunt and Waltham Cross Stand Up to Racism and supported by local churches (more below).
We can stop those like Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson who want to see ICE style policing and immigration raids on the streets of Britain. But we need a mass movement to do it.
Never Again – it is Holocaust Memorial Day this Wednesday 28th January. Join SUTR’s online remembrance event.
Falkirk
The decision by the softer racists of ‘Save our Futures’ to remove themselves from the Cladhan Refugee Hotel protests, to dissociate themselves from the Nazis, is fantastic news.
It is testimony to the long, determined counterprotests led by ‘Falkirk For All’ and SUTR, who never gave up, no matter the abuse, threats and actual violence from the Far Right.

Facing over 1000 racists, with our side a mere 250 folk, we stood outside the hotel in August facing a ‘Kill Them All’ banner, while being pelted with eggs, stones and watching incendiary devices flying over our heads at the windows behind which refugees sheltered.
SUTR members were able to immediately identify the Nazis (from across Scotland) and made sure people knew who they were. We took a tactical decision not to chant the usual ‘Nazi scum off our streets.’ Instead, we all chanted, ‘Look at who you’re standing with!’
The Unity march on 6 December, supported by trades unions also played a key role in demoralising the racists who, as their ranks dwindled, couldn’t continue their make-believe notion that they represented the majority.
Nae pasaran!
Newcastle

On Saturday 24 January we had around 40 anti fascists at the blue carpet with 20 protestors on the far right side. Their numbers were reduced from previous weeks which is very encouraging. they’re looking increasingly tired and our Unity rally on February 14 is a stone’s throw away from the hotel… so we’ll be giving them a clear message on the day!
As always, there are people who were at the counter protest for the first time – one example of this was a young person from Gateshead College. They were deeply concerned about the level of racist discussions they were hearing from fellow students. They took some leaflets to hand out at college and want to get further involved. Every connection has the potential to make a real difference.
Blackpool
About 60 far right marched through Blackpool. They were challenged by some locals due to a statement put out by Ryan Ferguson a hardened fascist. Ferguson warned black people not to come on the march. Some locals took exception to this. Ferguson was seen getting into an altercation with them. He was later videoed being thrown out of a Pub and later an Hotel.
Oxford
Oxfordshire Patriots failed to turn up for their planned rally for “democracy” in Oxford today. A members post cited lack of support for their organisers and the fact they were being consistently outnumbered by SUTR. 25 SUTR supporters occupied their rally spot and spent an hour building the Together against the far right march.
Haringey
Seven activists handed out 500 flyers in Wood Green on Sunday as part of the buildup to the north London Unity March. There was palpable shock and anger about the latest ICE murders in the US with a real sense of urgency and commitment to being on the 7th February march against Trump, Farage, Robinson and the rest of the far right murder machine. Black and white unite and fight! Migrants welcome!
Enfield
We had a great Saturday morning leafleting Rumi Mosque in Edmonton Green where 1,000 flyers for the 7th February North London Unity March were given out. The local shops In the area also took lots of leaflets. We also went around the shopping centre and Edmonton Green station. Oh, and tried our hand at a bit of fly posting.

Waltham Cross

Last year, the Delta Marriott Hotel in Cheshunt, which is home to asylum-seeker families including young children, was targeted by protests. In response, Cheshunt and Waltham Cross Stand Up To Racism organised a Unity Rally and coordinated a broad community statement signed by local councillors, faith leaders and trade unionists.
Cheshunt and Waltham Cross Stand Up To Racism hosted a Family Unity Day at Christ Church in Waltham Cross on Saturday 24 January.
Local families enjoyed a fun-packed afternoon with free party food, drinks, music and games. The event was organised alongside Herts Welcome Refugees and collected dozens of bags of winter clothing – including boots, coats, jumpers and trousers for asylum-seeker families.
Cllr Sean Waters, who organised the Family Unity Day, said: “Protests, marches and rallies play an important role in challenging the far right and showing the strength of our anti-racist movement.
We also have to do the hard yards at the grassroots – building community organising, breaking down barriers and creating spaces where people can come together. There is no shortcut to that work.
I said at the Unity Rally outside the Delta Marriott last year that it was the beginning – not the end. This Family Unity Day is a practical step to strengthen our community and show we have more in common than what divides us.”

The event was supported by Father Jake Pass of Christ Church, Waltham Cross, and Father John of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and St Joseph, Waltham Cross.
Attendees included local families and representatives from Cheshunt and Waltham Cross Stand Up To Racism, Broxbourne Labour Party, Unite the Union, the National Education Union, Herts Welcome Refugees, Care4Calais and Broxbourne Green Party.
Tower Hamlets
Tenconi has been banned by the Metropolitan police from marching in Whitechapel. Whatever UKIP do on 31st January we have to continue to counter their ideas. We are continuing to build opposition to UKIP and other far right groups and to build for the Together march on 28th March.
The local authority branch of Unison is coordinating a trade union bloc, contacting other unions in the borough.
The NEU has taken leaflets for distribution around schools. SUTR members have taken leaflets to other major workplaces: refuse depots, fire stations, ambulance depot, sorting office, bus garage and 6th form college.
Reactions have been mixed: some have welcomed us and offered to give leaflets out to their workmates, others have thrown our leaflets on the floor.
TH SUTR members have walked along main roads near their homes, asking shops to take leaflets and calling in at churches, mosques and community centres along the way.
The main tube stations have been leafleted, and there have been sessions at East London mosque.
We have written to churches, synagogues, the Gurdwara and Buddhist Centre encouraging them to attend the counter protest.
The young Bengali men, often referred to as “the lads of the estate”, played a key role in October, and will be there to protect the counter protest.
SUTR nationally continue to hold talks with the main Muslim organisations represented in the borough about a joint approach on 31st.
Newham SUTR were out leafleting for the Tower Hamlets demo against UKIP and postering for the 28th march Together alliance national demo.

Lambeth
NEU & GMB members, pupils and parents & carers, former pupils, and the local Green councillor held a ‘Solidarity with Minnesota’ rally outside our school, Sunnyhill in Lambeth, last Friday. We were joined by passers-by and a local cafe owner!
We wanted to show Solidarity with the General Strike and remember Renee Good, murdered by the racist and fascists of Trump’s ICE. Children made posters and used musical instruments in our chants of “Trump’s ICE is not nice” and “Solidarity with Minnesota”.
We then talked about the Together Alliance march, how we can build for it and stop the Far Right, including Farage in Parliament. We ended with chants of “Say It Loud, Say It Clear, Refugees Are Welcome Here.” It was a great rally and everyone left with posters, flyers and stickers to build for March 28th.
Cheltenham
A rump of about 15-20 far right were faced off with a larger SUTR and Gloucestershire Solidarity Network demonstration of around 30. Counter protesters chanted Refugees are welcome here and other chants drowning out the other side. The far right in the area appear to be dwindling – even getting fewer likes on their social media.
Bromley

SUTR Bromley have held street stalls giving anti Reform materials alongside Together alliance on 10/1 in Bromley High Street.
Greenwich
SUTR Greenwich held stall on 19/1 leafletting Greenwich University students with Together and anti Reform materials. SUTR SE London AGM was held on 22/01/26 in person and online with a steering committee elected and plans for 2026 actions made.
Crowborough
About 800 people, some local but joined by far right activists from around the country rallied and marched today in Crowborough from about 10.30am until 3.00pm.
The march through the town chanted slogans such as “Send Them back”, “Deportation not accommodation”’ and “Stop the Boats”.
Seen on the march was one of the organisers of the Epping protests and former member of the fascist party Homeland, Callum Barker. Barker was chanting slogans through a megaphone near the front of the march.
Other far right activists such as Holly West, the organiser of anti asylum protests in Braintree and Orla Minihane of the Pink Ladies again an organiser in Epping were also present. Various members of the rump National Front were seen.
Sarah White formerly of Epping Reform but now a member of Ben Habib’s Advance UK, was prominent. She spoke at the rally at the end of the march.

The rally was dominated by Advance UK. Only two local women spoke, they were followed by Ryan Bridge of Raise The Colours, who has recently fallen out with Danny Thomas, an associate of Tommy Robinson. Thomas and Bridge were planning “invasion” of northern France but are now accusing each other of theft of donations.
A further speaker was Young Bob, AKA Thomas McKay, who claims to be a Christian Nationalist he is a rising speaker on the far right associated with Nick Tenconi and Turning Point UK. McKay told the audience that the British people would not stand to be “replaced”, echoing a known anti semitic trope.
The rally was crowned off by Howard Cox, former Reform candidate for London mayor. Cox claimed to be a supporter of Tommy Robinson. He is now a member of Advance UK. “I joined the party (Advance UK) because I was threatened with expulsion (from Reform) for supporting Tommy Robinson.” Cox asked the audience what they thought of Nigel Farage and got what he claimed was a 50/50 response. Presumably due to Advance UK supporters in the crowd.
The march was also accompanied by the usual slew of “auditors’, Stripey Audits, Templar Report, Reggie -Right not Left and other minor figures but noticeable by his absence was AY Audits – arrested at Epping last week.
The whole affair was reminiscent of the early days of the Epping protests but with a more obvious presence of Advance UK.

✊🏼 ANTI RACISTS IN CROWBOROUGH NEED OUR SUPPORT!! The far right are organising nationally, we need to do the same!
👉🏼 Support the crowdfunder https://gofund.me/135fb6434
The far right have seized on government plans to move refugees to Crowborough army camp, the first of whom arrived last week. Sunday’s demonstration was supported by far right organisations who organised coaches and promoted Advance UK, the new party supported by Tommy Robinson. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/jan/25/crowborough-protest-asylum-seekers-housing-plan-former-military-camp
👉🏼 Stand Up To Racism and SAMAS (Supporting Arriving Migrants and Asylum Seekers) in Crowborough are doing a fantastic job in very difficult circumstances of mobilising support for those arriving in the camp.
Dover

The Dover end of Danny Tommo’s “operation Overlord” was somewhat of a damp squib with a rag tag procession of about twenty marching from the Golden Lion Pub to the Migration centre in Dover Port. The centre was closed and empty. They joined a motley crew of about the same number already assembled there.
Meanwhile, in France Tommo’s promise of 20,000 men turned out to be a dozen waving flags. More like Dunkirk than Normandy.

Monitoring group overview
With the collapse of the Falkirk far right group we see some of the same pattern as last week, a crisis in some sections of the far right. This is also evident in the pathetic sight of Danny Tommo on France’s northern beaches mobilising a whole 12 people.
Tommo is nothing but a grifter and an adventurist. He is incapable of serious organising. In other places far right mobilisations were down, on the video I saw of Cheltenham there was 15 of them.
Despite the low numbers of the far right the local SUTR group is planning to stay alert and prepare to counter protest. In Oxford the far right failed to turn up at all. In other places the work of building community response to racism and fascism is being pushed out with preparation for Unity marches and the Together protest on 28 March.
There have been many meetings and several committees formed to build the protest. Union branches around the country have been endorsing it. The murders by ICE in Minnesota have seen SUTR groups preparing local solidarity demonstrations and an emergency demo in central London tomorrow.
Always at the back of our mind is the popularity of Reform and the threat of Tommy Robinson on May 16th. We know that what ICE is doing in the US is what the right would like to do here. Keep building, keep pushing.
