How you can take part and support TOMORROW’s mobilising
day of action on Thursday 7 March

Help us get #StopRacism #StopTheHate trending in our X/Twitterstorm & social media blitz tomorrow, Thursday (11am – 12 noon)
 Briefing here

🔥 Help us build for the #StopRacism #StopTheHate national demonstrations organised by Stand Up To Racism, supported by the TUC, 15 trade unions and others including faith groups, organisations and campaigns, taking place Saturday 16 March in London and Glasgow, and Sunday 17 March in Cardiff…

Alongside the national X/Twitterstorm and social media blitz:

  1. We are asking unions to organise at a national, regional and branch level to take pictures, videos and share content supporting the demonstrations.

We are asking unions to take part in the X/Twitterstorm between 11am and 12 noon especially (and throughout the day) from national, regional and branch social media accounts.

We are asking all anti racists at the level of their workplace to gather colleagues and take pictures holding up the posters, and to share them on social media with the hashtags (or you can send them to info@standuptoracism.org.uk with a description of where and who you are and we can also share them for you)
  1. We are asking students to organise vibrant and lively activity on campuses for the day of action. This could involve lecture and canteen announcements, banner drops, mass stalls with gazebos, banners, posters, people on megaphones raising slogans and speaking out against racism, while mass leafleting students and selling tickets for coaches etc. Make sure to take pictures and videos and to share them on social media with the hashtags (or you can send them to info@standuptoracism.org.uk with a description of where and who you are and we can also share them for you).
  1. We are asking local groups to organise mass leafleting of transport hubs and town centres with as many activists out covering the main stations/ busiest tubes in the area in London etc. Make sure to take pictures and videos and to share them on social media with the hashtags (or you can send them to info@standuptoracism.org.uk with a description of where and who you are and we can also share them for you).

These demos have been called as part of an international day of protest (see: www.worldagainstracism.org), against a backdrop of intensified scapegoating of refugees, rising Islamophobia and antisemitism, as part of a wider racist offensive by the government that is opening the door to far right and fascist forces who are seeking to grow.

In this environment, overshadowed by an impending general election that is set to see unprecedented levels of racism to distract from the government’s handling of the crisis, it’s crucial that we act to mobilise the anti racist majority on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March across England, Scotland and Wales.
