Lowestoft

Picture shows part of the Lowestoft Stand Up to Racism/Lowestoft Palestine Solidarity Campaign vigil on Saturday 10th August. After the events of the previous week when masses of people across the country had come out to oppose racism, Islamophobia and the far-right we received a lot of support from passers by. Some thanked us and the movement for standing up against the thugs.
On our Lowestoft vigil we were joined by Red Saunders, one of the founders of the pathbreaking 1970s/80s movements Rock Against Racism with an original iconic RAR placard

📣 In Oxford 300+ protesters rallied in Bonn Square to hear speakers from local refugee support campaigns, trade unionists, community campaigns, political parties, musicians and a magician while people chalked “Refugees Welcome” messages on the pavements. Protesters went on to march through Oxford’s streets led by samba drummers while we chanted “When refugees are under attack what do we do? Stand up fight back!” and “Tommy Robinson we know you, you’re a fascist through and through.” and “One – we are the people Two – we won’t be silenced, Three – stop the fascists Now! Now! Now!” Shout out to everyone who helped make today a success. Unity is strength.

150 on stoke antiracism protest yesterday. We had 9 unions represented by speakers and lots other representing various groups – a majority being women and/or not white. Apart from local Palestine demos I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed this level of participation. Big leaps forward for antiracism movement in the city.
