Get involved in confronting the rise of racism, Monday 19 September, 6pm, Hamilton House, London, WC1H 9BD
Stand Up to Racism is holding a major national conference on Saturday 8 October with keynote speakers including Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
In recent days we’ve seen a blockade and threats to shut down the jungle refugee camp in Calais and the “Burkini ban” in France.
Here, Theresa May has refused to offer confirmation that EU nationals can stay in Britain post-Brexit, we have seen the murder of a Arkadiusz Jozwik in Harlow, Essex, and the G20 debate has been dominated by discussion of immigration.
We’ve also experienced the growth of the Black Lives Matter movement on both sides of the Atlantic.
Combating the rise of racism and Islamophobia has become a central task for the whole movement.
Stand up to Racism conference can be a launchpad for the building of a mass campaign against all forms of racism in every town and city, in every workplace and university campus.
There is an open planning meeting on Monday 19 September at 6pm, Hamilton House, London, WC1H 9BD, to organise the conference and the initiatives that will lead on from its plenary and workshop sessions. If you want to help shape the event and help build Stand Up to Racism please come along and get involved. Email us info@standuptoracism.org.uk, or find us on Twitter and Facebook.
