Solidarity delegation to Calais Sat 5 September

Stand Up To Racism is calling two solidarity delegations to Calais the first of which will be on Saturday 5 September. The appalling racist response by the government and right-wing press to the humanitarian crisis in Calais should be condemned in the strongest possible terms.  Please add your name to our statement criticising Cameron and Hammond’s comments [here].

But it is also crucial we offer concrete solidarity with migrant and refugees who are living in atrocious conditions in Calais. We ask people to do collections in workplaces, communities and union branches and be a part of our delegation travelling to Calais on 5 September.

People can donate money, food or practical things such as clothing, sanitary products, bedding or children’s toys etc [collection sheet available here].

Travel details for this Sat 5th Sept delegation to Calais are as follows:

We will be meeting in the Cheriton High Street Tesco Cark Park in Folkestone, Kent CT19 4QJ at 9.30am and then head together to Calais on the 10.50am Le Shuttle service.

If you are taking a car please purchase a ticket on the 10.50am service ASAP to make sure we can all travel at the same time and please email us to confirm your attendance by emailing info@standuptoracism.org.uk If you cannot attend but want to make a donation we can arrange for someone to collect it message us on Facebook or email info@standuptoracism.org.uk.

Arriving in Calais From the tunnel, you head toward Calais and follow all the signs toward the port/ferry…. you look for exit 2 called Z.I. des dunes/Oye-Plage. As you exit, you can see the jungle on your right. Park just beyond the bridge on the grassy area. Lock your car and walk over.

You can also make cash donations via our donate button below:

Our second solidarity delegation to Calais is scheduled for Saturday 17 October. More details to follow soon.
