Following the 20,000 strong demonstration organised by Stand Up To Racism on March 19th, and as a serious humanitarian crisis spreading from the middle east deepens, this meeting is an opportunity for the Refugees Welcome movement to discuss countering the vile anti-refugee rhetoric emanating from sections of the media, and call for Britain to play its role in providing sanctuary from war and persecution.
And as the EU referendum takes centre stage and sections of both sides of the debate are using migrants as scapegoats, this is a crucial moment to reinforce the the positive contribution of migrants and counter the racist myths around immigration.
