PCS Conference overwhelmingly voted to affiliate to Stand Up to Racism. This is a crucial decision at a time when racist arguments are so prevalent in the run up to the General Election. The work of SUtR highlighted in the discussion included organising delegations to Calais to give solidarity to the refugees there, and it’s work in building the demonstrations in London, Glasgow and Cardiff on UN Anti-Racism day on 18th March. Members of PCS combined with members of many other organisations to make sure these were well-attended.
PCS has played a leading role in opposing racism and will now take its rightful place as an affiliate to SUtR. This will allow local branches to affiliate to SUtR locally in towns and cities around the UK. I am very proud to have moved this motion
