Reform UK’s Laila Cunningham accused Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood of wanting people to “shut up and die” after calls for people to avoid speculation on the reasons for the horrific knife attack in Cambridgeshire.
Reform UK just couldn’t wait to use the attack to further its political agenda, despite the horrific injuries and the shock that followed the attack.
This blatant attempt to stir the pot isn’t the only disgusting incident involving Reform UK this weekend. Reform UK’s Brighton branch posted on Facebook (a post since deleted but shown here) a disgusting, antisemitic caricature of Green Party leader Zack Polanski, which echoed the Nazi propaganda of the 1930s.

Reform UK and Nigel Farage target asylum seekers and open the door to racism, Islamophobia and antisemitism wherever they go.
It’s against this backdrop that the far right continue their protests at asylum accommodation. But they are not having it all their own way.
Some 300 antiracists marched in Newhaven on Saturday while 250 massively outnumbered a rump of far right activists in Gloucester.

Of course not every protest involves hundreds of people on our side. But the counter-demos offer solidarity to those facing the far right onslaught and ensure there is a counter narrative to their message of hate.
Anti-racist highlight of the week:
In Gloucester, activists mobilised to counter 30 far right activists who were targeting a hotel in the local area.
Notably, some of the refugees from the hotel felt confident enough to join the 250 anti-racists who mobilised. As one activist reported, many other residents of the hotel “made heart signs with their hands, gave thumbs up or waved” .

Image: Hundreds of anti-racists mobilise in unity in Newhaven on Saturday.
Portsmouth
For the third time in three weeks, far right forces targeted a Socialist Workers Party meeting. On Wednesday 29th, about 20 racists targeted the meeting. Chants from the far right were more overtly Nazi (TR, EDL) and the police stopped them from following people from the meeting. They had reduced in size from when they had targeted the same socialist group a week earlier, but are also now targeting other groups including environmental groups in the area.
On Friday 31st, over 50 anti racists stood strong in the pouring rain in Southsea, against at most 25 far right and fascist hardcore, as usual shouting lies and obscenities at refugees and anti-racists.
“’Portsmouth Patriots’ rely on the same old faces to keep their hate-fests running, while we see new and returning people on our side every week keeping our numbers and energy up even when stalwarts can’t make it.
The fascists thought they had a victory this week when a public meeting with the council leader (a vocal supporter of City of Sanctuary and anti-racist) was cancelled after threats from the far right.
But SUTR showed them once again that there are many more of us and we will not allow them to threaten and intimidate our community. Portsmouth is anti-fascist!”
Crowborough
On Thursday 30th, SUTR activists reported that up to 500 people joined a Reform UK meeting in the local area. 2 activists leafleted the meeting to combat myths and lies.
Particularly concerning is that the far right are looking to mobilise in the local area. Anti-racists are planning to counter them whenever this is announced.
Southampton
Just 30 “Patriots” demonstrated tonight outside of the Highfield House Hotel. They were met by 80 counter demonstrators, who had assembled on Thursday 30th with less than 24 hours notice. Massive well done to Southampton!
Newhaven
Great turnout from 2-300 people on the Newhaven march on Saturday 1st.
Eastbourne
Another big success in Eastbourne on Saturday 1st. The far right were massively outnumbered by 60 anti-racist and Palestine activists to 7 far right that dwindled to 2. They were hiding in the station taxi pick up area. They shouted Tommy Robinson a couple of times but were too demoralised to do anything else. Anti-racists did fantastic to mobilise.

Oswestry
A huge success In Oswestry on Saturday 1st. Activists reported that this was “The second time a protest has been called by the far right. And thanks to a wonderful group of local activists and the Oswestry Climate Hub countering it both times, yesterday only 2 turned up. Leeds
On Saturday 1st, anti-racists in Leeds once again mobilised in Seacroft to defend a hotel. Anti racists report that that the far right were delayed marching because only 14 of them assembled and were waiting for others to join them – their numbers only reached 20 at their height.
Anti-racists outnumbered them with 25+ activists opposing them. Anti-racists reported that “The Auditors didn’t have the day they planned as we got 1 of them arrested, surrounded by about 8 police after we reported intimidatory behaviour which was eventually accepted by police and the survivor bravely giving a statement. We await to see if it goes to court.”

Glasgow
Activists in Glasgow ‘reclaimed’ Buchanan St following Reform UK having a stall there the previous Saturday. Activists handed out leaflets, spoke to people about the myths and lies of Reform UK.
Banff
Over 70 people in Baff outnumbered a handful of far-right activists from the group “Peterhead United” on Saturday 1st, who have organised protests in Peterhead and Aberdeen targeting refugees. A victory for the local community.
Falkirk
Antiracists braved the rain and sleet in Falkirk on Saturday 1st. A SUTR activist reported that “Although outnumbered, 80 racists vs 55 antiracists, their numbers are stagnant and we kept our spirits up with the Protest in Harmony choir.
Save Our Futures & Our Kids Future led their countdown to the exploitation of the fallen soldiers on Remembrance Sunday by having fascists on parade in Falkirk. Fascist Britain First walked the entire length of the protest displaying their flag along with a flag from the far-right Great British Protest Strike.
Several of their supporters were seen making Sieg Heils. All of this was done behind a ‘Lest we forget’ banner at the front. Lest we forget the fight against fascism!”

Image: Anti-racists join the vigil in Bournemouth.
Herne Bay
An early evening fascist demo was called in Herne Bay on Thursday 30th. For the first time in several weeks the counter demonstration was outnumbered, 200 on the fascist side while anti racists had 60.
It appears that the far right numbers were boosted by locals including around 50 teenagers. The fascists were aggressive, throwing eggs, and a large police presence surrounded our counter demo for protection and our people eventually got out around 8pm.
Bournemouth
On Friday 31st, 35 anti-racists in Bournemouth held the roundabout outside the Roundhouse until after 6. The far right had grown to similar size & they marched across the Road into our space. A group of far right and fascist forces turned up from Basingstoke, young & nasty but some locals left. Anti-racist activists continued to hold their ground until 7.15.
On Saturday 1st November, 30 activists in Bournemouth turned out for the vigil in response to the far right and that called out supposed “safe guarding vigilantes” which was very successful,
with lots of support & lots of leafleting. Two known far right activists turned up late on to disrupt but didn’t succeed, despite “patriots” from various areas saying they would attend.
Gloucester
On Sunday 2nd November, anti-racists mobilised in Gloucester. Activists reported that “The far right had more flags than people. We outnumbered them by 250+ to 30ish. Some of the resident asylum seekers came out from the IBIS hotel to join our demo. Others made heart signs with their hands, gave thumbs up or waved. A good day for us and hopefully the flag wavers went home thoroughly demoralised.”
Tavistock
A unity rally in Tavistock was held on Sunday 2nd.
“Bedford square in Tavistock was adorned with a multitude of colourful banners and flags on Sunday as over 150 local people rallied to show that Tavistock is a diverse, welcoming, compassionate town. It was opened by the “Tavy Sings the World” multilingual choir and combined music and speeches from community leaders.
The rally was organised by Tavi Stand Up to Racism in response to an increase in reports of racist incidents and comments on social media that have made many minorities feel threatened.
It was supported by Tavistock Peace Action Group, Tavi Pride, the NEU teachers union, the UNSON public sector union, the Green Party, Quakers, United Reformed Church, the Methodist church, West Devon Art Workshops and Tavistock Library.
There were speeches from the United Reformed Church, Tavistock Green Party, Tavistock Peace Action Group, Women Against the Far Right and Tavi Stand Up to Racism”.
WALES

Image: “All Hate and no mates”. 5 far right activists, demoralised are outnumbered in Rhoose by 25 anti-racists on Friday 31st.
Rhoose
On Friday 31st, anti-racists activists reported that “All hate and no mates in Rhoose, Cardiff. Far right numbers swell to 5, outnumbered by 25 SUTR activists”
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM THE MONITORING GROUP
It’s been a long year for many SUTR activists, especially those that have had to mobilise every single week for months. Persistence pays however and that hard work is showing results. It really does seem that the fascists and the far right have failed to break through in most local areas. And the cracks are beginning to show.
Last week, Danny Tommo thought that he could emulate Tommy Robinson by calling a march in Southampton. The result was a failure. Although he got around 500 on the demo, this was less than the local counter protest. Coming the day after Tenconi’s failure in Whitechapel, the Southampton debacle seems to have hit Tommo hard. His social media the following day focused on “no more demos” now is the time for “ACTION”.
This was mirrored by many lesser figures on the far right. Fascist Tenconi has also caused tension – after calling for ‘moderate Muslims’ to join him at Whitechapel he was severely harassed on the Southampton demo by White Vanguard, a hardcore Nazi group.
There is less talk of “concerned citizens” and more talk about “Patriots” in local areas. The focus on only “illegal” immigrants is giving way to more overt talk of “they all have to go”. But there is a palpable sense of frustration in right wing circles. Donaldson, of the Great British protest initiative is a good example of this – where his supporters are often infighting over tactics and strategy.
However, this has shown that they can become much harder in their politics and more open about their far right views. Steve Laws, a hardened fascist, has been tweeting the “14 words” and pictures of Mosley, trying to draw those who are disillusioned with the strategies so far to a harder position.
We have also seen attacks on socialist meetings, environmental groups and Palestine protests. There should be no complacency. Tommy Robinson called the biggest far right demo in British history only a few months ago. The strategy of exposing racist and fascist ideas, however, is proving to be effective on the ground in many local areas, where we often see the harder fascists becoming isolated as anti-racists expose their true ideology.
