Model motion to back Stand Up To Racism ‘Fighting for antiracist workplaces’ conference (Saturday 4 Feb 2023) and protests to mark UN antiracism day (Saturday 18 March 2023, both events supported by the TUC
This branch/region believes:
- The Tories assault on working class living standards is going hand in hand with a racist offensive.
- The scapegoating of refugees and migrants – spearheaded by Braverman’s talk of the ‘invasion’ of Southern England by ‘illegal immigrants’ – opening the door to the Far Right and the denial of institutional racism continues. They are trying to divide and rule our side.
- Internationally the victory of Meloni and her fascist Brother of Italy and breakthroughs by the Swedish Democrats and Le Pen’s National Rally should be a warning of the threat we face,
- The trade union movement is at the heart of antiracist and antifascist resistance.
- We need to fight for anti racist workplaces and for trade unions to be at the heart of resisting the government’s racist offensive.
This branch/region/committee resolves:
- Support and pay for X delegates to attend the Stand Up To Racism ‘Fighting for antiracist workplaces’ organised with the TUC on Saturday 4 February
- To mobilise for the UN antiracism day protests on Saturday 18 March, organised with the TUC, to send a banner and delegation and to donate X towards the cost of transport.
