Labour Councillor, Sean Waters (@SeanWatersCllr) responds to a dog-whistle letter from Broxbourne MP Lewis Cocking, which calls for mass deportations and demonises refugees as belonging to “barbaric cultures”.
“Lewis Cocking has disgraced himself – deliberately stoking division and scapegoating refugees.
The political amnesia is astounding. His party broke the asylum system, leaving families stuck in hotels, and now he blames refugees for the mess – branding them ‘barbaric.’
Coward Cocking will only ever punch down at the most vulnerable. You’ll never see him challenge the billionaire class or the vested interests his party serves.
In his latest letter, he makes it clear he considers every asylum seeker to be an ‘illegal immigrant’ and demands they all be deported.
There are more than 100 children living in the asylum hotel in Cheshunt. This week Lewis congratulated local children on their GCSE results – but for refugee children, he wants to show them the door.
