Human rights lawyer Aamer Anwar statement on Rwanda plan

Human rights lawyer Aamer Anwar said:

“Offshoring people 5000 miles away is nothing more than a grubby cash for people plan by a desperate PM… We must oppose the Rwanda policy that will lead only to more misery, self-harm and death.

“The fundamental question for the Scottish Government as well as Police Scotland is whether they are willing to engage in a barbaric policy of abuse, dictated by a racist tory Government.

“It is time to dismantle the brutal regime of border fences, detention centres and deportations . It is time to deal with our own politicians, knee deep in the blood of thousands drowned by Europe’s border controls.

“We need to harness that spirit of Kenmure Street, those moments when a community came together and said ‘these are our neighbours let them go’. That ‘power of the people’ rests in every community in every city, in every country, we have no choice but to use every means necessary and fight for freedom.”
