Help us mobilise against government racism and the new far right

This weekend again saw anti fascists and anti racists mobilising across Britain to oppose fascists and far right groups. The government’s appalling scapegoating of refugees continues to give racists and hardcore fascists the confidence to mobilise.

That was underlined last week, when the day after parliament heard the third reading of the racist Illegal Migration Bill, Rishi Sunak sat down with Italy’s fascist Mussolini loving prime minister Giorgia Meloni. She leads the Brothers of Italy, a fasist party who trace their history back to Italy’s wartime fascist government. But – the Illegal Migration Bill – and our home grown fascists – are being opposed at every step.

Saturday saw Black Lives Matter, XR, Stand Up To Racism and other groups protesting the Illegal Migration Bill at the Home Office.

At the Honour Oak pub in douth east more than 500 people from the local community were mobilising against far right Turning Point UK – and their hardcore fascist thug friends – yet again targeting a Drag Queen Story Hour event. Turning Point were quickly seen off despite very heavy handed policing.

Meanwhile anti racists and anti fascists gathered to defend refugee accommodation in Skegness against Hitler look alike Alek Yerbury and his dwindling band of supporters – just 30-40 of them – as against the 250 who marched through the town a few months ago, before the fascist group Patriotic Alternative split.

On Sunday more than 250 local people mobilised against the new ‘Homeland’ fascist group in Cannock, in the West Midlands. The fascist turnout of 20-30 was again massively short of previous demos – 250 had turned out to scapegoat refugees in the same town a few months ago. The fascists in Cannock were pushed off their assembly point by anti racists – as the local community mobilised to reject them.

In Erskine in Scotland, again on Sunday, the weekly anti refugee protests organised by fascist groups was pitiful. The message is simple, keep the far right under pressure and we can stop them!

Stand Up To Racism was at the heart of all of these anti fascist protests, mobilising and organising.

We need a mass anti racist movement in Britain to oppose government racism and to stop the growth of the far right.
