ShareTweetForward Stand Up To Racism has been mobilising across Britain opposing the far right and challenging the government’s racist hostile environment… join us on 21 October at our national organising conference REGISTER HERE Donate HERE Well done to anti racists and anti fascists out again this week from Lincoln to Llanelli, Portland to Durham Miners’ Gala, to Erskine. See Stand Up To Racism’ Twitter feed for reports, pictures and videos. The racist mobilisation in Portland, Dorset, in response to the barge to ‘house’ refugees was outnumbered by the anti racist mobilisation to say refugees are welcome and oppose the grotesque conditions they are being subjected to. In Lincoln, anti fascists outnumbered the fascist mobilisation three to one, and disrupted their planned protest in the town. In Llanelli, anti racists and anti fascists were out opposing the fascist Voice of Wales again, and in Erskine, anti racists and anti fascists were.out yet again to say loud and clear, refugees welcome. The government’s vicious intensification of its racist hostile environment reached new heights this week, as immigration minister Robert Jenrick ordered that murals of cartoon character Mickey Mouse on the walls of an asylum centre for unaccompanied children should be painted over. It is yet another gobsmacking direct cruel intervention by a cabinet minister that not only showed heartless and callous treatment of human beings – unaccompanied children in this case – who have bore unbearable journeys for safety and a better life. But not only this – it is also another clear dog whistle to the racist and far right who are actively seeking to grow in Britain through targetting refugees and building a racist street movement. That’s why Stand Up To Racism is so active and insistent that we must oppose every attempt by racist, far right and fascist forces to mobilise in our communities. It’s why we are marching on the Tory party conference on 1 October, and it’s why we are asking you to come along to our national organising conference on Saturday 21 October. Help us build the strong, rooted, anti racist movement we need ✊🏾✊🏼✊🏿✊🏽✊🏾✊️✊🏻 Throughout the spring and summer, Stand Up To Racism is holding fringe events and running stalls at trade union conferences – we are currently holding our last stall and fringe of the season at Unite conferences in Brighton. We will also be at TUC and Labour conferences with fringe events… We will produce a round up bulletin next month with pictures and reports from across the trade union conferences – we have been proud to work alongside our union colleagues in building anti racism through the heart of the trade union and strike movements, fighting for anti racist workplaces. Stand Up To Racism was at the heart of all of these anti fascist protests, mobilising and organising. We need a mass anti racist movement in Britain to oppose government racism and to stop the growth of the far right.
