1500 strong Stand Up To Racism protest says #BlackLivesMatter #TakeTheKnee #EndHotelDetentions in George Square, Glasgow

Saturday 20 June 2020

Today 1500 anti racists came together in George Square, Glasgow, to say loud and clear, #BlackLivesMatter #RefugeesWelcome #StandUpToRacism #EndHotelDetentions

The huge socially distanced protest followed the disgraceful scenes where racist thugs had rampaged through George Square this week, violently attacking a No Evictions refugee rights demonstration.

Today, the ‘People Make Glasgow’ skyline above the square was more apt than ever, as George Square was filled by people, black and white, united in a powerful #TakeTheKnee moment.

A rally of moving and determined speeches followed including Stand Up To Racism activists, Glasgow Black Lives Matter, RMT, FBU, EIS & Unite unions, statements from SNP and Labour politicians and more.
