Lorna McKinnon reports – Edinburgh Love Music Hate Racism relaunched in Edinburgh last night (Wednesday 25th September) – packed venue of antiracists chanting, singing and dancing.
Rania Obead, co-convenor of SUTR in Edinburgh, did a brilliant speech mobilising people for the 26th of October.
Myself, Felix & the Sunsets and Culture Clan performed; it was a pretty explosive finish from culture clan!
Rappers from various African countries rapping about police racism, BLM movement and antiracist resistance.
After the mobilisations with SUTR when the riots first began, lots of new people interested in organising around anti-racism in the city joined the movement – this gig was a product of that and it more than paid off.
We set something in motion last night in Edinburgh and we won’t be wasting the opportunity!
Well done to everyone who worked so hard to get it off the ground.
Amazing launch of #LMHR in Edinburgh. A packed Sneaky Pete’s turns out to say #RefugeesWelcome and #NotoRacismNotoFascism. With Culture Clan, Felix and the Sunsets and Lorna McKinnon and an amazing speech from Rania Obead ✊🏽✊ pic.twitter.com/oLuAfSiDjq
