Tue 19 July court hearing & London protest postponed – but TUC, Care4Calais & SUTR Twitterstorm to go ahead on the day

PROTEST at Royal Courts of Justice reconvened for new court hearing date, on or after 5 September (exact date tbc very shortly and updated here): 9am onwards – rally 1pm to 2pm, Royal Courts of Justice, The Strand, London, WC2A 2LL

๐Ÿ“ข NO OFFSHORE DETENTION
๐Ÿ“ข Scrap the Nationality and Borders Act

Join this urgent online day of action for workplaces and 11am to 12 noon Twitterstorm – on Tuesday 19 July – following the Care4Calais  & PCS Union’s legal challenge to the government’s policy of Rwanda offshore detention. The case was due to go to court again on 19 July for a hearing to decide whether the Rwanda policy itself is lawful – this has been postponed and therefore so has our protest. But we need to keep up the pressure.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฟ Tue 19 July is also a workplace day of action in workplaces, colleges & communities we are asking you to join 11am -12 noon Twitterstorm, by holding up posters for selfies and sharing your pictures on all social media platforms, especially Twitter, with #StopRwanda

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸฟThe local protests outside London will go ahead on 16 July – see your nearest via this list: www.facebook.com/StandUTR/events

Stand Up To Racism alongside the TUC, Care4Calais, with the backing of 11 trade unions and various refugee rights organisations, faith groups and campaigns are mobilising the #StopRwanda campaign. In light of recent developments, we will organise another major day of action around the fresh date too – this Tuesday’s workplace and online day of action is important to keep up the momentum and the pressure, and to let the refugees who are living in fear of deportation to Rwanda that we are not going away and that they have the solidarity of the wider anti racist movement.

We  ask you to circulate the details of your nearest local protest within your networks and lists and encourage everyone to attend, share and bring banners.

We are asking everyone, unions, organisations, campaigns, supporters… continue to support, publicise and encourage everyone to take part
in the Twitterstorm, 11am to 12 noon, on 19 July.

We have, over previous anti racist issues, such as #TakeTheKnee protests, or in the build up to the UN Anti Racism Day demonstrations in March, managed to get anti racist messages trending on Twitter through the support and involvement of a broad coalition of unions, campaigns and organisations coming together to make an impact. On this urgent and crucial issue, we want to do so again, with the hashtag #StopRwanda
