- Anti-Racist Bloc, TUC/Peoples Assembly Against Austerity Demo at Tory Party Conference Sunday 4th October Assemble 12pm Oxford Road, Manchester
The respones from government to the ongoing refugee crisis remains woefully inadequate. Britain has opted out as European countries agree a quota of 120,000 refugees, a small amount compared to the million plus people that are estimated to arrive this year. We welcome the call by the Labour party conference this week to treat refugees humanely, to condemn the government for abdicating responsibility on this matter and to call for Britain to take a fair proportion of refugees. We will be joining the TUC / Peoples Assembly Against Austerity March this Sunday. Look out for our stall, banner, placards and materials – we must say Refugees welcome and no to the scapegoating of these people for the economic crisis that they did not create.
