The strength of anger at the racism targetted at England players Rashford, Sancho and Saka, and at goverment ministers – in particular Boris Johnson and Priti Patel – who have, as England player Tyronne Mings said, stoked the flames of racism, was reflected in the demonstrations that took place all over Britain on Saturday 17 July. This included a demonstration of hundreds at Downing Street.
In Dorset, a march taking place as part of the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival organised by Stand Up To Racism supported by the TUC saw hundreds marching to the Estate of Richard Drax, Tory MP and beneficiary of the slave trade, demanding slavery justice and opposing insitutionalised racism.

The protests were covered widely in the press, including in the Guardian, The Mirror, the Evening Standard (even the Daily Mail and the Sun reported on the protests!) as well as a whole host of local newspapers who covered the #TakeTheKnee actions in their areas (including Leicester, Darlington, Hull)
