Starting in the morning, and despite the total secrecy that surrounded the details of his visit, Nigel Farage couldn’t give his press conference in Aberdeen without constant interruption from anti-racist protesters outside.
(But we didn’t need the press to leak the location of the secret meeting – our activists just looked up the nearest 5-star hotel!)
After Aberdeen, ‘man of the people’ Farage was flown to Hamilton in a private jet. He failed to appear at his own press conference, and was escorted by four security vehicles into the Reform office through a back door allyway, to avoid protesters gathered outside the building.
His team haven’t been able to release any videos from Farage’s meeting with supporters in Hamilton due to the background chants and music blasted by anti-racists outside the office.
Why did we do it?
Reform UK is a racist and Islamophobic far-right party. Its leader, Farage, blames migrants, refugees and Muslims for the crisis affecting the NHS, housing, education and other public services, low wages or unemployment. Farage is a privately educated posh boy and a millionaire who doesn’t stand. If Reform win big in May 2026, they will use this position to infect communities, workplaces and schools with racism.
Anti-racist action gets the goodies
Today was Farage’s first campaigning visit to Scotland for many years. As recently as June last year, Reform has said Farage wouldn’t campaign in Scotland because it was ‘too dangerous’ for him.
The narrative in the press, on TV news and on social media could have been about Farage turning a corner and becoming a rehabilitated, respectable politician in Scottish politics.
Instead, the actions by anti-racists thwarted Farage’s attempt to detoxify his image ahead of the by-election this week, and showed that he is still NOT welcome here!
The actions by anti-racists today showed we CAN stop Reform UK in 2026.
Farage hates free speech
Farage showed his contempt for the right to protest, for free speech and for media workers one more time today by first accusing journalists of leaking the details of his press conference in Aberdeen to protesters.
He then snubbed journalists by not appearing at his own press conference in Hamilton.
Farage left Hamilton without speaking to a single journalist today.
Next step in the campaign: #AyeWelcomeRefugees!☀️
Former first minister Humza Yousaf, human rights lawyer Aamer Anwar, cultural figures, refugee rights organisations and trade union leaders are amongst those who backed the national demonstration and carnival on Saturday 21 June in Glasgow during #RefugeeFestScot to mark World Refugee Day
Let’s see thousands on the streets of Glasgow that day and
MAKE THE RACISTS AFRAID AGAIN
After Aberdeen, Hamilton was ready to welcome Farage…
Farage’s press conference didn’t exactly go to plan:
He sneaked into the Hamilton venue through the back door:
