Press release: Anti racist campaigners condemn far right blockade of Dover port.
Black clad figures have assembled this morning to blockade Dover port as a part of a ‘Stop the Boats’ protest.
Promoted by Britain’s leading fascist Tommy Robinson and his associate Danny Tommo, the event follows black clad ‘patriots’ gatherings around Britain over recent weeks.
Timed to coincide with Reform UK’s conference, these people are acting on the rhetoric of Nigel Farage who only yesterday spoke with French fascist Jordan Bardella from Marine Le Pen’s National Rally on stopping refugees reaching the UK
Some are saying they plan a three day protest.
Sabby Dhalu, Stand Up To Racism co convenor, said:
“These scenes show that sections of the far right are prepared to turn words into action – these violent far right forces are a real and growing threat. It’s hard to believe that any other protest group from Stop Oil to the Palestine movement would have been allowed to blockade a major port without mass arrests and prison sentences.
“The black clothes and military bearing are not accidents. These people are trying to look like modern blackshirts’’.
Weyman Bennett, Stand Up To Racism co convenor, added:
“Mainstream politicians and the media have used the ‘Stop the Boats’ rhetoric for so long it has given confidence and legitimacy to far right thugs to act.
“It is a matter of urgency that the anti racist majority that still exists in our communities doesn’t remain passive. We have to mobilise in every area this autumn to build unity and oppose the poisonous racist division the far right seeks to spread”.
Stand Up To Racism will oppose the far right’s attempts to intimidate and threaten ordinary people and divide our communities.
