From the Daily Record – Anti-racism campaigners will gather at Glasgow‘s George Square in a counter-protest to a far-right rally organised on the same day.
Hundreds of members of Stand Up to Racism Scotland (SUTR) say they will gather in the city centre on Saturday to “unite against racism and fascism”. An anti-immigration rally is due to take place in the square at the same time.
Its organisers deny that the rally is far-right or racist. The SUTR rally, which has official permission from the council, will take place from 12pm onwards.
The group, which includes trade unions, politicians and celebrities, will reject far-right violence and the racist myths that scapegoat migrants and refugees. Attendees will include comedian Janey Godley, nine national unions, faith organisations and football fans.
