CHAIR: Sabby Dhalu Stand Up To Racism

The Tory government has outlined clearly that it intends to fight the next general election on racism. The worsening of living standards is a policy choice of this government, so it is stirring up racism in order to distract and divide people, scapegoat refugees and other communities that face racism.

Suella Braverman’s recent interventions on the reactionary armed police officers ‘strike’ following the historic murder charge of a police officer for the shooting of unarmed black man Chris Kaba – and the undermining of the 1951 Geneva Convention on Refugees on the right to asylum, sowing division by attacking multiculturalism and the right to asylum for women and LGBTQ+
people on grounds of gender and sexual orientation – are the most recent illustration of this. The racist “Stop the Boats” campaign and the Illegal Migration Bill are other examples.

These racist campaigns are galvanising the far right. This shows how important is fighting racism.

Join our meeting to discuss how the Labour Party must fight this racist Tory agenda.
