Model motion: SUTR ‘Fighting for Anti Racist Workplaces’ conference (Sat 4 Feb 2023) & protests to mark UN antiracism day (Sat 18 March 2023)

This branch/region believes

The Tories assault on working class living standards is going hand in hand with a racist offensive.

The scapegoating of refugees and migrants – spearheaded by Braverman’s talk of the ‘invasion’ of Southern England by ‘illegal immigrants’ – opening the door to the far right and the denial of institutional racism continues. They are trying to divide and rule our side.

Internationally the victory of Meloni and her fascist Brother of Italy and breakthroughs by the Swedish Democrats and Le Pen’s National Rally should be a warning of the threat we face,

The trade union movement is at the heart of anti racist and anti fascist resistance.

We need to fight for anti racist workplaces and for trade unions to be at the heart of resisting the government’s racist offensive.

This branch/region/committee resolves:

Support and pay for …………… delegates to attend the Stand Up To Racism ‘Fighting for antiracist workplaces’ organised with the TUC on Saturday 4 February

To mobilise for the UN antiracism day protests on Saturday 18 March, organised with the TUC, to send a banner and delegation and to donate …………… towards the cost of transport.
